![]() ![]() ![]() Befriend the adorable Dokebi that gain strength from and encourage people's dreams, and get ready to embark on an adventure!ĭokeV was last seen at The Game Awards 2021. It seems like the game will feature a multitude of systems and mechanics, and the official website gives us more insight as to what we can expect from the game.ĭokeV is a creature-collecting open world action-adventure filled with intriguing stories and set in a unique, vibrant world. The game’s absence can most likely be chalked up to developer Pearl Abyss not being ready to show it yet. Summer Game Fest 2022 was filled with news, announcements, and trailers, but none of them in relation to DokeV, which captured our attention with a couple of zany trailers and a hilariously catchy theme song back in 2021. ![]() There was no DokeV news at Summer Game Fest this year. Unfortunately, Summer Game Fest 2022 was not the place for such information. ![]() Originally announced at Gamescom 2021, Pearl Abyss fans have been keeping a close eye on major gaming events for the next batch of news on the upcoming title. We’ll know more about DokeV when it leaves development and a release date is announced.DokeV was one of the most bizarre yet intriguing games revealed in recent memory. It’ll be fun to run around DokeV’s endgame with friends waiting for rare dokebi to spawn and fight. The creature collection aspect is interesting as well, as long as the pool of dokebi to collect isn’t shallow and devs release new dokebi as part of the game’s live service. However, with its visual level of polish and the prestige for twitchy combat coming from Black Desert Online, this may attracted older gamers who want to relive their childhoods in an environment that empowers them to explore the world and rediscover the familiar. Characters like a funny clock spirit evoke this theme well.ĭokeV is sure to enchant players, and hopefully, the game is engaging enough to attract kids away from Fortnite and Roblox. From what we see in DokeV’s trailer, there seems to be a balance between technology and mysticism with everyday objects gaining new functions under the auspices of friendly Dokebi. Overall, the game reminds me a lot of Yokai Watch and Korean animation Robochan Cubix, which also had a technological utopia theme behind it. If that’s the case, I’m opting to main toy hammer at launch and whatever dokebi makes it squeak louder. What will be interesting to see is how DokeV breaks up combat styles/approaches and whether players will be locked into a particular “class” or be given weapon trees once they unlock different weapons/dokebi. Thankfully, DokeV’s combat may be simplified to a handful of combos that way newer players aren’t exposed to 16-input deep combos that we see with some classes in BDO. Fans of Black Desert online’s flashy yet deep combat system will see a lot of similarities between DokeV and Black Desert, especially with how twitchy and movement-oriented BDO can be. “For the combat scenes, we tried to embody Pearl Abyss’ style of action while simultaneously putting in a lot of effort to make it into a style that could be enjoyed by a larger audience,” says Changkee Nam. Characters fight enemy dokebi with gigantic toy hammers, water guns, and vacuum cleaners, evoking the familiar in a new and exciting way that’s vividly colorful and entertaining to watch. What stands out the most in the game’s trailer is perhaps the game’s colorful combat. ![]()
